The dry-bulk market was very quiet after Thanksgiving and holidays in the Middle East which led to all indices continuing their downward spiral.
Any panamax activity was focused out in the Pacific where there was still a good deal of appetite for Australian cargoes and rates generally held firm.

Panamaxes (Index 30.215 USD/dagen)
An unidentified charterer spent $35,000 to take the 82,500-dwt Bulk Brazil (built 2008) from China to Australia and back to the Far East.
BHP Billiton, however, only had to find $30,000 for a similar roundtrip with the 82,200-dwt Epson Trader (built 2007).
Parakou will head from China to Australia and back with the 72,900-dwt Iron Man (built 1997) at $32,000 daily.
And NYK has the 76,600-dwt Torm Orient (built 2008) from Australia to Japan at $29,500 per day plus a ballast bonus of $550,000.
Norden also booked a Pacific roundtrip, picking up the 76,500-dwt Penda Bulker (built 2005) at $30,000.
The 73,700-dwt Aeolian Spirit (built 1999) will leave China for Indonesia and back to Taiwan at $34,000.
The 72,500-dwt Coal Pride (built 1999) went to an unidentified player for a trip from China to the Persian Gulf at $37,000.
Noble has the 72,400-dwt Magda (built 1992) from India to China for $36,500 per day.
In the period market Eastern Ocean spent $21,000 per day for between 11 and 13 months with the 74,200-dwt Washington Trader (built 2000).
