FMG warns China on iron ore prices...
Fortescue Metals Group chief executive Andrew Forrest said today Chinese steelmakers would be stuck with paying spot prices "for all time" if they didn't accept the benchmark price struck between Rio Tinto and Japan's Nippon Steel.

Fortescue, emerging players see benefits
Sarah-Jane Tasker and Michael Sainsbury | June 06, 2009
MINING giants Rio Tinto and BHP Billiton's monopoly of the Pilbara under their giant iron ore joint venture could open doors in China for their main rival, Fortescue Metals Group, and emerging players.
Fortescue executive director Graeme Rowley said Fortescue would now become the only alternative, large-volume Australian iron ore supplier following Rio and BHP's plan to merge their iron ore operations.

Købt i maj 2008 i kurs 8,90 – kort før nedturen satte ind.
* Hurtig og effektiv opbygning af et levedygtigt selskab.
* Markant eksponering i Pilbara området (71.400 km2).
* ”The New Force in Iron Ore” – særdeles god markedsføring, især at de forstår at adskille sig fra de 3 øvrige store i branchen -
* Ambitiøs ekspansion plan for de næste 54 måneder; ”The Heng Shan Project 55 to 95 to 155 mtpa”

There are a lot of re-ratings on base-metal players based on this BHP deal (with Rio)
You're also seeing all these smaller iron ore miners really becoming targets for the Chinese because the Chinalco deal has fallen through and China wants to secure some long-term iron ore pricing power.

Speculation swirls of $1bn in Chinese funding
ANDREW Forrest's Fortescue Metals Group has gone into a trading halt amid speculation it is about to land a Chinese funding deal to help it increase West Australian iron ore mine ouput to nearly 95 million tonnes a year.
Mr Forrest has been spending a lot of time in China in recent weeks, and on Tuesday met the head of the Export-Import Bank of China (Exim).
The meeting coincided with reports Fortescue was in advanced talks with $US200 billion sovereign wealth fund, China Investment Corp, over a $US1 billion-plus convertible note issue.
This week Fortescue said the talks were incomplete and confidential.
Earlier this year, Fortescue confirmed it had been in discussions with Exim Bank and China Investment Corp for funds to boost mining capacity to 120 million tonnes a year.
It has since lowered its ambitions to 95 million tonnes.
Fortescue said the trading halt had been called "pending an expected release on Monday regarding the completion of a commercial negotiation".

Fortescue Metals to reveal all on China financing.
Blair Speedy | August 17, 2009
Article from: The Australian
FORTESCUE Metals Group is expected to release details of a multi-billion-dollar deal with China's Export-Import Bank today that will bankroll the expansion of the company's Pilbara operation.
Shares in Fortescue have been under a trading halt since Thursday, pending the "completion of a commercial negotiation", believed to be a financing deal with China Exim Bank.
Today's announcement is also expected to include details of a price agreement -- a first for the price-taking Fortescue -- that will give the company financial certainty to meet repayment obligations.
In a statement to the stock exchange last week, Fortescue said it was reviewing its financing options as part of a plan to increase production from 45million to 95m tonnes a year by 2012, down from a previous goal of 120m tonnes.

Seneste "presentation" (8/3 2011) fra Fortescue findes her:
